About

Statement

I am a Chicago area visual artist, and educator. My work is rooted in the gestures and textures of the world, and guided by the conflict between man-made industrial objects, disposable materials, and our stressed natural environment. I harness the energy of this conflict by transforming castaways physical objects like cd's, construction site materials, and rusty pieces of metal with modeling paste, watercolor, earth pigments, ink on sketchbook pages, house wrap, and wood panels. This process shapes these things into what I consider a new kind of beauty that is both life-affirming and honest.
